A little over a week ago, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, after an amazing comeback victory over Louisville, was undefeated and a possible Big East title.
A little over a week ago, I had written that it would be downright bull if Rutgers doesn’t play for the national title with no blemishes in the lost column.
What a difference a week makes.
Night fall can be so menacing, especially when it’s scarlet red.

- Bronco Blues…Boise State, equiped with their deep blue turf, is now, along with Ohio State, the lone unbeaten team in the country after defeating Utah State 49-10. But because the Broncos are in a non-BCS conference (WAC), there is no chance that they can play for a championship. Should they? That’s for another week.
- Strike a Pose…As in the Heisman and as in Troy Smith. The Buckeye quarterback guaranteed himself the trophy for the nation’s most outstanding play with his performance against rival and second rank Michigan. Smith threw for 316 yards and 4 TDs in the 42-39 win.
- Rebirth of Troy…After losing to Oregon State on Oct. 28th, USC’s Pac-10 reign appeared to be over. But after a 23-9 win against Cal, the Trojans are right at the cusp of playing for a third straight national championship. With a key game against Notre Dame yet to come, it is possible.
